Cllr Jemima Laing is Deputy Leader of Plymouth City Council and Cabinet Member for Children, Culture, Comms and Legal. She has been a Labour councillor for Stoke ward in Plymouth since 2018.

Jemima is a member of the LGA Culture, Tourism and Sport board as well as a member of Arts Council England’s South West Area Council. She is passionate about the role that culture can play in our lives, and in particular in the lives of children and young people.

She was a solicitor before pursuing a career in journalism, working in regional papers and as a broadcast journalist at the BBC.
