Richard has been Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Resources since May 2021

With a career spanning 40 years in local government, Richard has worked for councils in London, Bristol and the South East. For the last 10 years of his career he was Chief Executive of Thanet Council.

Richard takes a keen interest in economic and social regeneration and housing issues, and has recently championed the Masterplan for Bath’s Milsom Street Quarter. He set up and chaired the Bristol Community Health community interest company and has previously been an NHS Board Director as well as chair of the CAB in Bath and North East Somerset.

Richard has represented Walcot ward on Bath & North East Somerset Council since April 2017.
